कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन । मा कर्मफलहेतुर्भूर्मा ते सङ्गोऽस्त्वकर्मणि ॥
karmaṇy-evādhikāras te mā phaleṣu kadācana । mā karma-phala-hetur bhūr mā te saṅgo 'stv akarmaṇi ॥
तुम्हारा अधिकार केवल कर्म करने में है, उसके फलों में कभी नहीं। इसलिए कर्म के फल की इच्छा मत करो और न ही कर्म न करने में तुम्हारी आसक्ति हो।
You have the right to perform your prescribed actions, but never to the fruits of action. Never consider yourself the cause of results, nor let your attachment be to inaction.
योगस्थः कुरु कर्माणि सङ्गं त्यक्त्वा धनञ्जय । सिद्ध्यसिद्ध्योः समो भूत्वा समत्वं योग उच्यते ॥
yoga-sthaḥ kuru karmāṇi saṅgaṁ tyaktvā dhanañjaya । siddhy-asiddhyoḥ samo bhūtvā samatvaṁ yoga ucyate ॥
हे धनञ्जय! योग में स्थित होकर आसक्ति को त्याग कर कर्म करो। सिद्धि और असिद्धि में समान बनो — यह समता ही योग कहलाती है।
Be steadfast in yoga, O Dhananjaya. Perform actions abandoning attachment, remaining equipoised in success and failure alike. This equanimity is called yoga.
यदा यदा हि धर्मस्य ग्लानिर्भवति भारत । अभ्युत्थानमधर्मस्य तदात्मानं सृजाम्यहम् ॥
yadā yadā hi dharmasya glānir bhavati bhārata । abhyutthānam adharmasya tadātmānaṁ sṛjāmy aham ॥
हे भारत! जब-जब धर्म की हानि और अधर्म का उत्थान होता है, तब-तब मैं स्वयं को प्रकट करता हूँ।
Whenever there is a decline of righteousness and a rise of unrighteousness, O Bharata, then I manifest Myself.
उद्धरेदात्मनात्मानं नात्मानमवसादयेत् । आत्मैव ह्यात्मनो बन्धुरात्मैव रिपुरात्मनः ॥
uddhared ātmanātmānaṁ nātmānam avasādayet । ātmaiva hy ātmano bandhur ātmaiva ripur ātmanaḥ ॥
मनुष्य को अपने द्वारा अपना उद्धार करना चाहिए, अपने को नीचे नहीं गिराना चाहिए। आत्मा ही आत्मा का बन्धु है और आत्मा ही आत्मा का शत्रु है।
Let one raise oneself by oneself; let one not degrade oneself. For the self alone is the friend of the self, and the self alone is the enemy of the self.
ईशावास्यमिदं सर्वं यत्किञ्च जगत्यां जगत् । तेन त्यक्तेन भुञ्जीथा मा गृधः कस्यस्विद्धनम् ॥
īśā vāsyam idaṁ sarvaṁ yat kiñca jagatyāṁ jagat । tena tyaktena bhuñjīthā mā gṛdhaḥ kasya svid dhanam ॥
इस जगत में जो कुछ भी गतिमान है, वह सब ईश्वर का निवास है। त्यागपूर्वक भोग करो, किसी के धन का लोभ मत करो।
All this, whatsoever moves in this universe, is pervaded by the Lord. Enjoy through renunciation; covet not anyone's wealth.
ॐ त्र्यम्बकं यजामहे सुगन्धिं पुष्टिवर्धनम् । उर्वारुकमिव बन्धनान्मृत्योर्मुक्षीय माऽमृतात् ॥
oṁ tryambakaṁ yajāmahe sugandhiṁ puṣṭi-vardhanam । urvārukam iva bandhanān mṛtyor mukṣīya mā 'mṛtāt ॥
हम तीन नेत्रों वाले शिव की आराधना करते हैं, जो सुगन्धित और पुष्टि देने वाले हैं। जैसे खीरा बेल से अलग होता है, वैसे ही हमें मृत्यु से मुक्त करो, अमरता से वंचित न करो।
We worship the three-eyed Lord, fragrant and nourishing. As a cucumber is freed from its vine, may we be liberated from death, not deprived of immortality.
